The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled the nomination fees and eligibility guidelines for aspirants ahead of the July 12, 2025, local government elections.
In a statement signed by the party’s chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, and secretary, Dr. Adeola Jokomba, the APC fixed the chairmanship nomination fee at ₦5 million, with an additional administrative fee of ₦500,000. Female aspirants will pay ₦2.5 million for the nomination form, while the administrative fee remains unchanged.
To encourage youth participation, a 50% discount on the nomination fee has been approved for aspirants under 40 years old, though they must still pay the full administrative fee. Aspirants living with disabilities are exempted from paying nomination fees but will pay a reduced administrative charge of ₦250,000.
For councillorship positions, male aspirants will pay ₦1 million for the nomination form and ₦100,000 as an administrative fee. Female aspirants will pay ₦250,000 for the nomination form, while the administrative fee remains ₦100,000. Youths contesting councillorship seats will get a 50% discount on the nomination fee, with the full administrative fee still applicable. Councillorship aspirants with disabilities will obtain nomination forms free of charge and pay only ₦50,000 as an administrative fee.
The party also clarified that there will be no separate fee for the vice chairmanship position. All payments are to be made through bank drafts payable to the APC Lagos State chapter.
Chairmanship aspirants must submit nomination forms endorsed by five registered party members who are also voters in their wards and councils. Councillorship aspirants must provide 20 endorsements from registered voters within their wards.
The APC noted that aspirants must possess at least a school certificate or its equivalent, while higher qualifications are an added advantage. The minimum age for chairmanship aspirants is 30 years, and 25 years for those seeking councillorship seats.
