Just B’s Bain Becomes First Male K-Pop Star to Come Out as Gay

Date:

Bain, a member of the K-pop boy band Just B, has made history by publicly coming out as gay. The 23-year-old artist shared the news during a performance at a concert in Los Angeles, a rare and brave move in the high-pressure K-pop industry, where stars typically keep their personal lives private.

While performing a solo, Bain expressed his pride, stating: “I’m proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community — as a gay person.” His declaration was met with loud cheers from the audience, as videos shared on social media captured the moment.

“To anyone out there who’s part of the LGBTQ+ community, or still figuring it out — this is for you. You are seen, you are loved, and you were born this way,” Bain continued.

According to the Korean media outlet News1, Bain is the first male K-pop star to publicly come out.

After the performance, Bain’s bandmate Siwoo shared a heartfelt message on a fan platform, expressing his emotional support. “I was watching from backstage and I cried too. I cried even more because I knew how hard it was for him,” Siwoo wrote.
