Rising Afrobeats star, Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, popularly known as Qing Madi, has described the Nigerian music industry as “so dark,” echoing growing concerns among artists over alleged toxicity within the scene.
The 18-year-old singer made the remark via her Instagram story, stating simply: “The industry is so dark.”
Her comment aligns with sentiments recently expressed by fellow artist Reekado Banks, who alleged that a “demonic” music executive is actively sabotaging emerging talents.
This is not the first time Qing Madi has opened up about industry pressures. In 2023, she revealed that she lost a significant number of followers after publicly expressing her Christian faith on social media. Despite the backlash, she said she had no regrets.
Over the years, several artists have made similar claims about the inner workings of the Nigerian music industry. Notably, hitmaker Kizz Daniel once referred to it as a “cartel” controlled by a powerful “cabal.”
The latest comments contribute to an ongoing conversation about transparency, fairness, and spirituality in Nigeria’s vibrant but often controversial music landscape.
