President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the redeployment of four Permanent Secretaries in a move aimed at streamlining operations within the Federal Civil Service and enhancing leadership continuity across key ministries.
The redeployments, announced in a statement on Tuesday by Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations, are part of efforts to align civil service functions with the priorities of the Tinubu administration.
Dr. Mary Ada Ogbe, formerly at the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, has been moved to the Ministry of Regional Development. She is expected to understudy the outgoing Permanent Secretary, who is set to retire on May 7, 2025.
Faruk Yusuf Yabo has been redeployed from the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy to replace Ogbe at the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.
Meanwhile, Dr. Emeka Vitalis Obi, previously serving at the Ministry of Budget and Economic Development, will now head to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Mr. Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam has been transferred from the Special Duties Office under the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
The Federal Government said the reshuffle reflects its ongoing effort to boost operational efficiency, foster innovation, and deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, described the move as part of routine administrative adjustments to revitalize the civil service through strategic personnel placement.
She urged the newly redeployed officials to bring their expertise to bear in their new roles and ensure seamless transitions.
“All handover and takeover activities must be concluded on or before May 2, 2025,” the directive stated.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to a professional and responsive civil service structure that supports national development goals.
