PDP Ratifies Ekiti Ward Congress, Eyes 2026 Governorship Comeback

Date:

Ekiti, Nigeria — The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially ratified the party’s ward congress held on March 14 across Ekiti State’s 177 wards, paving the way for a fresh leadership structure ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Caretaker Chairman of Ekiti PDP, Dare Adeleke, confirmed the ratification in a statement on Wednesday, describing it as a morale booster for party members in the state. He praised the NWC, led by acting National Chairman, Ambassador Ilya Damagun, for affirming the congress outcome.

Adeleke also commended party stakeholders and members for their unity and commitment, which he said are vital for PDP’s resurgence in the state. He assured PDP governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Ademola Adeleke of Osun that the party is determined to regain relevance and reclaim the Government House in 2026.

“This decision has given us hope and renewed our spirit. We’re gearing up for the local government congress on Saturday, May 3rd,” Adeleke added.

With the ward congress now ratified, attention shifts to the upcoming local government congress, a key step in building the party’s grassroots strength ahead of future elections.
