Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has denied allegations that he orchestrated a violent attack during the inauguration of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) leadership in Abuja.
The President of NANS, Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah, had accused Tinubu of being behind an incident in which armed thugs stormed the Wells Carlton Hotel in Asokoro, disrupting the event with cutlasses and firearms. According to Isah, the attackers stabbed several guests, looted property, and caused dignitaries such as former Governors Ibrahim Shekarau and Idris Wada to flee the venue.
Isah described the attack as politically motivated and claimed it was linked to a bribe offer allegedly made to silence his leadership.
Responding via his official Instagram handle, Seyi Tinubu firmly rejected the allegations, describing them as entirely baseless and defamatory. “I have never held a meeting to discuss any subject matter with Comrade Isah in Lagos or anywhere else in the world,” he stated. “I have never knowingly met him before. Neither did I visit any location with thugs. All these allegations by Atiku Isah are completely fictional.”
He added: “Wow…how can someone lie with so much confidence? Wow, wow…an attempt to defame any character. May God be with you, Comrade Atiku Isah.”
His response has drawn support from followers on social media, some of whom have called for a formal investigation to clarify the facts. As of the time of filing this report, no official complaint has been confirmed by law enforcement.
