AWKA, ANAMBRA STATE — President Bola Tinubu was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Dike si mba Anambra (Warrior from the Diaspora) by the traditional rulers of Anambra State on Thursday, in recognition of his contributions to the nation.
The title, presented by Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Ogalagidi, Eze Iweka III), Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, was bestowed during a ceremony at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, marking the culmination of Tinubu’s one-day working visit to the state.
In his remarks, Igwe Iweka emphasized that the title, which translates to “warrior from the Diaspora,” represents an acknowledgment of Tinubu’s positive impact on the country, particularly in governance and national development.
“This title is from all the royal fathers across the 179 communities of Anambra State,” Iweka stated. “It acknowledges your good works, and we salute your efforts in governance that are positively impacting every part of the country.”
The traditional ruler also highlighted significant infrastructure projects, including key roads and the Second Niger Bridge, as part of Tinubu’s lasting legacy.
President Tinubu, in his acceptance speech, expressed deep gratitude for the honour, stressing the importance of unity and collaboration for national progress. He highlighted Nigeria’s diverse population as an asset that should serve as a foundation for economic growth.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this title,” Tinubu said. “This occasion is a cherished moment for me, and it reinforces the importance of working together for the advancement of our great nation.”
During his visit, the president also commissioned several projects in Anambra, including the New State Government House, the Governor’s Lodge, Solution Fun City, the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy, and various initiatives at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including the National Security Adviser, Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu; governors from Ogun, Imo, Abia, and Enugu states; and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.
