Real Madrid will be without Vinicius Junior and Lucas Vazquez for the remainder of their La Liga season due to injuries, the club confirmed on Monday.
Vinicius is sidelined with an ankle sprain, while Vazquez is dealing with a thigh injury. Reports suggest that both players may not return to action until the Club World Cup.
Madrid’s chances of securing a major trophy this season were dealt a blow after they lost to La Liga leaders Barcelona on Sunday, leaving them seven points behind with just three matches remaining. This effectively ensures the club will finish the season without a league title.
Madrid’s upcoming fixtures include a home match against Mallorca on Wednesday, a visit to Sevilla on May 18, and a final home game against Real Sociedad on May 25. The latter will mark Carlo Ancelotti’s final match as head coach, as he is set to take over as the Brazil national team manager at the end of the season.
