JOS – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Plateau State has called on residents to prioritise safety and strictly adhere to traffic regulations in order to curb the rising cases of road accidents.
The Sector Commander, Mr. Olajide Mogaji, gave the charge on Wednesday in Jos during a road walk held in commemoration of the 2025 United Nations Global World Road Safety Week.
Addressing participants, Mogaji highlighted speeding, dangerous overtaking, and overloading as major contributors to road traffic crashes in the state. He urged all road users to take personal responsibility and commit to safer driving habits.
“We must all play our parts in making our roads safer,” he said. “This includes obeying road signs and markings, using pedestrian facilities like overhead bridges and zebra crossings, and following instructions from traffic officers, FRSC officials, and the police.”
Mogaji acknowledged the challenges posed by poor road conditions but cautioned that they should not serve as justification for reckless driving. He stressed that road safety is non-negotiable and a shared responsibility.
The sector commander also called on the public to support the FRSC’s ongoing efforts to ensure a safer motoring environment in Plateau State, as part of a broader national effort to reduce road traffic accidents.
