Nigeria to Host AFRIMA 2025 as Entries Open in May

Date:

Nigeria has been officially announced as the host nation for the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), scheduled to take place in Lagos from November 25 to 30, 2025. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the International Committee of AFRIMA at the AUC headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Themed “Unstoppable Africa,” the event aims to celebrate and showcase the rich musical heritage of the continent. Angela Martins, Director for Social Development, Culture, and Sport at the AUC, praised Lagos for its consistent excellence in hosting major international events. She highlighted the city’s modern facilities, robust media presence, security infrastructure, efficient transport systems, and hospitality as key factors in its selection.

Entry submissions for AFRIMA 2025 will open on May 27 and close on August 8, 2025. The event is expected to feature over 1,600 nominees, supported by approximately 2,300 production crew members, and attract more than 60,000 visitors and delegates. Additionally, the awards ceremony is projected to reach an audience of over 400 million viewers globally through live broadcasts on 109 television stations across 84 countries.

Hosting AFRIMA 2025 is anticipated to bolster Nigeria’s position as a cultural hub in Africa, providing a platform for artists across the continent to gain international recognition and fostering unity through music.
