Kenny Saint Brown Claims Dagrin’s Premature Death Linked to Lack of Long Life Prayer

Date:

Gospel singer Kenny Saint Brown, popularly known as KSB, has stirred conversation with her recent claim about the late Nigerian rapper, Olayitan Oladapo, famously known as Dagrin.

Speaking during an episode of the Hoha podcast, KSB said Dagrin’s untimely death could be linked to the content of his prayer-themed verse on her 2010 song Turn Me Around. According to her, the rapper asked for fame and material success in his verse but never prayed for long life.

“When he [Dagrin] died, I cried, because the prayer requests on that song—God did it for him,” she said. “And I asked God what happened. He said go and listen to his prayer request, there is no long life there. He just said, ‘make I blow’, ‘Mo fe ma gun Bentley’, ‘let everybody know me worldwide’, and God granted everything.”

KSB, a former Kennis Music artiste, expressed that while God answered Dagrin’s requests for success, the absence of a plea for long life left a spiritual gap.

Dagrin passed away on April 22, 2010, at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after a tragic car crash around Mushin, Lagos. He was reportedly unconscious after colliding with a stationary truck in the early hours of the morning and later died from his injuries.

Widely regarded as a trailblazer of indigenous Yoruba rap, Dagrin’s legacy has continued to influence Nigerian hip-hop, with his music gaining greater popularity after his death.
