Veteran Actor Yemi Ayebo Alleges Major Ordered His Execution in 1996

Date:

Veteran Nigerian actor Yemi Ayebo, famously known as Yemi My Lover from his 1993 movie, has revealed a harrowing experience where Major Adeoye allegedly ordered his execution in 1996.

In an interview with Mr LilGaga on YouTube, Yemi narrated how the intervention of the Major’s colleagues spared his life during a dark period of false accusation and detention.

He recounted, “On April 19, 1996, I was in my office on Lagos Island when a man arrived with four soldiers, saying they wanted to see me in Alausa.”

“At the time, Lagos State was under military governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola. At Alausa in Ikeja, Major Adeoye accused me of something I knew nothing about. They beat me, and the Major ordered my execution.”

“During the military era, orders were not questioned. I was about to be shot, but one of his colleagues intervened. I was locked up with five of my staff.”

The ordeal left Yemi financially devastated. “I spent over N500,000 trying to resolve the issue. I sold everything—my car, house, and more. Thankfully, they later found I was innocent. But that incident was a major setback, and things haven’t been the same since.”

DAILY NEWS ONLIN reports that Yemi Ayebo also appealed for support and connections to revive his career in the movie industry.
