Nigerian music stars Davido and Asa are set to headline the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Sports Festival (NSF).
The duo will thrill fans and dignitaries at the MKO Abiola International Stadium by 5:00 pm, as part of the grand launch of the 22nd edition of the NSF, tagged “Gateway Games.”
The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, confirmed the performances in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday afternoon.
“This is our own Olympics and the festival must portray that global feel in both competition and organisation,” Olopade stated. “The National Sports Commission and Ogun State Government have put up a world-class event to mark the opening ceremony later today by 5:00 pm. Two of Nigeria’s top music icons, Davido and Asa, will be performing at the MKO Sports Arena.”
The ceremony is expected to draw a large audience, with Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, scheduled to officially declare the festival open.
The National Sports Festival is a biennial multi-sport event that brings together athletes from across the country to compete in various disciplines, promoting unity and sporting excellence.
