Johnny Drille Reflects on Fatherhood, Praises Parents’ Sacrifices

Date:

Nigerian singer and songwriter, John Ighodaro, popularly known as Johnny Drille, has opened up about the profound impact of parenthood on his life.

In an interview with Dose Of Society, the Mavin Records artist revealed that becoming a father has deepened his appreciation for his parents and the sacrifices they made while raising him and his siblings.

Drille and his wife, Rima Tahini, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Amaris Esohe Ighodaro, on November 17, 2023.

Describing parenthood as a life-altering experience, the 33-year-old singer said, “The one rule I live by is family first. I would abandon anything I’m doing anywhere in the world if my family needs me.”

He emphasized the importance of family as his core support system. Recalling his childhood, Drille spoke candidly about the struggles his family faced growing up and how his parents always found ways to provide and protect them despite financial difficulties.

“My parents didn’t have much. Sometimes we had no food, but they always made it work. Back then it looked fun, but now I know they were shielding us from a lot,” he said.

Now a father himself, Drille shared that the experience has reshaped his perspective on parenting and deepened his gratitude. “Having a child changes your life in the most incredible ways. I appreciate my parents even more for what they did in raising us, especially in a crazy world like this,” he added.

Johnny Drille is known for his soulful music and heartfelt lyrics, and his reflections on family and fatherhood offer fans a rare glimpse into his personal journey beyond the stage.
