Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) youths from Nasarawa State’s 13 local government areas has called for greater youth participation in governance and urged Mohammed Maikaya to contest the governorship seat.
During a meeting in Lafia on Monday, the group described Maikaya as a visionary and suitable candidate to succeed Governor Abdullahi Sule. They emphasized that young people, who form a large portion of the electorate, deserve more representation in leadership.
Chairman of the coalition, Comrade Yahaya David, said, “We want a young, vibrant, and visionary leader like Mohammed Maikaya, who has consistently impacted lives across the state, to be supported to govern Nasarawa in 2027.”
David noted that despite losing in a previous APC governorship primary, Maikaya continued empowering citizens through the Maikaya Foundation. Beneficiaries at the gathering shared testimonies of scholarships and financial support they had received.
The coalition expressed frustration over the dominance of aging politicians in previous elections and advocated for a younger leader who can introduce innovative governance solutions. They pledged their full support for Maikaya should he decide to run.
