Nollywood star Mercy Johnson-Okojie has set the record straight following widespread concern about her health after a video clip from her TV show surfaced online.
In the clip, taken from her show Mercy’s Menu, Mercy spoke candidly with fellow actress Joke Silva about a recent health scare involving a tumor on her thyroid. She revealed that she experienced sudden weight loss and underwent surgery to remove her thyroid, which had doctors worried it might be cancerous.
However, many viewers misunderstood her message, mistakenly believing Mercy had been diagnosed with cancer. This misunderstanding led to a flood of prayers and supportive messages from fans worried about her condition.
In response, Mercy shared a heartfelt video on her Instagram page to clarify the situation. She reassured her followers that she does not have cancer. She explained that while her doctors initially suspected the tumor could be malignant, it was later confirmed to be non-cancerous.
Mercy said, “Thank you to all of you who have been calling and sending messages and prayers. I do appreciate it so much, but I do not have cancer. I noticed that a clip from my TV show, Mercy’s Menu has been flying around and I think it was cut. They cut the clip. I said I had a cancer scare. It means that I’ve this swelling on my neck, if you can see the line there, and my doctors felt it was something serious. I had problems with my thyroid. I’m perfectly okay. Thank you so much for all of your calls and your messages. I’m perfectly fine and I do not have cancer.”
Mercy Johnson’s clarification has brought relief to her fans, who continue to send love and support to the actress as she recovers from her surgery.
