Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that he is “Igbo by blood” in response to an ethnic-based comment on social media.
The exchange occurred after an X user with the handle @Yakbel warned the singer against associating closely with Igbo people. The user claimed that, as a Yoruba man, Davido risked betrayal from his Igbo associates, suggesting that Igbos could never be satisfied and shouldn’t be trusted by Yoruba individuals.
“Davido just dey carry Ibo full body, until when dem betray am before e rest,” the post read in part. “Yoruba boy dey frolick with Ibos in 2025, they want your head and everything you have to belong to them.”
In a swift and clear response, Davido dismissed the comment, writing, “Lol. I am Igbo by blood.”
The singer’s response has sparked reactions online, with many fans applauding him for shutting down the divisive remark. Known for his pan-Nigerian appeal and collaborations across regions, Davido has consistently promoted unity through his music and personal relationships.
His statement reinforces his identity as a symbol of cultural connection in a diverse Nigeria.
