Team Edo Makes Strong Comeback at 2024 National Sports Festival

Team Edo is mounting a strong comeback bid to the top of the medals table at the ongoing 2024 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The state has already secured 18 medals in the first three days of competition, showcasing impressive performances especially in weightlifting and kung fu.

Weightlifter John Aladetun led the charge with 2 gold and 1 silver medal in the fiercely contested men’s 67 kg category. Other weightlifters contributed five silver and one bronze medal, bringing the weightlifting tally to 2 gold, 6 silver, and 1 bronze.

In kung fu, Kelly Alonge claimed a gold medal in the tahulo category, while the team added 1 silver and 7 bronze medals, marking a strong presence in the martial art.

Edo’s total medal count now stands at 3 gold, 7 silver, and 8 bronze.

Amadin Enabulele, Executive Chairman of the Edo Sports Commission, praised the athletes, calling their performance a testament to hard work, discipline, and determination.
