Famous Nigerian musician Peter Okoye has responded to confusion sparked by the arrest of a man sharing his name in Ghana.
A viral video circulating on social media shows Ghanaian police detaining a 31-year-old suspect identified as Peter Okoye. The suspect was reportedly arrested on charges of fraud and kidnapping.
The similarity in names led some netizens to mistakenly associate the singer with the suspect.
In response, Peter Okoye took to X (formerly Twitter) to clear the air. Reposting the viral video, he urged Ghanaian police to clearly specify which “Peter Okoye” they meant. Writing in pidgin English, he stated: “Abeg make una dey specificaly dey specify which ‘PETER OKOYE’. I no be thief.”
His clarification aims to put an end to the confusion and protect his reputation amid the viral reports.
