Lewandowski Hits Century as Barcelona Seal Treble with 3-0 Win at Bilbao

Date:

La Liga champions Barcelona closed out their 2024/25 season in style with a 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, as Robert Lewandowski reached 100 goals for the club.

The 36-year-old Polish striker struck twice in the first half, bringing his league tally to 27 for the season, just behind Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé on 31. His first goal came with a clever scoop over goalkeeper Unai Simón after being set up by Fermin Lopez, marking Barça’s 100th league goal of the campaign. Moments later, he headed in his second from a flicked corner.

Barcelona’s win capped off a domestic treble, having already lifted the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup. Athletic, who finished fourth, secured a Champions League return after 11 years and bid farewell to club legend Óscar de Marcos, who made his 570th and final appearance.

Despite missing further chances, Lewandowski led a dominant Barça performance. Goalkeeper Iñaki Peña impressed with a sharp save to deny a Pau Cubarsí own goal, while teenager Lamine Yamal tested Simón late on.

Dani Olmo sealed the win in stoppage time, winning and converting a penalty to end a near-perfect season for the Catalans.
