In Maitama, Abuja, police operatives acting on credible intelligence intercepted a notorious robbery and carjacking syndicate planning an attack. The suspects opened fire upon sighting the officers, resulting in a gunfight. One of the most wanted criminals, Abdulmininu Bello, alias Babanle, was killed, while seven members of the gang were arrested.

Those apprehended include Ibrahim Muhammad (22, ex-convict), Abubakar Abdullahi (22), Sarajo Yusuf (20), Sanusi Ali (51), Abubakar Sani, Isiaka Adamu (ex-convict), and Abdullahi Isah.

In another operation, police in Jigawa State rescued 80-year-old Hajiya Hajara, who had been kidnapped from Sarbi Village, Minjibir LGA, Kano. The kidnappers were intercepted while attempting to transport her to their hideout. A gun battle ensued, resulting in the death of five suspects and the arrest of five others, including the gang leader, Yahaya (35).

The rescued victim was unharmed, received medical attention, and was later discharged.

Recovered items from the Jigawa operation include two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated LAR rifle, 14 rounds of live ammunition, two motorcycles, and two mobile phones.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the success was due to coordinated efforts by police commands and intelligence support.
