WAEC Apologises for Delay in English Language Paper 2 During 2025 WASSCE

Date:

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has issued an apology for the delay in conducting English Language Paper 2 in the ongoing 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The examination eventually took place on Wednesday evening.

In a statement released by Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, the council explained that the delay was caused by several challenges they encountered while trying to safeguard the integrity and security of the examination.

“While maintaining the integrity and security of our examination, we faced considerable challenges primarily due to our major aim of preventing leakage of any paper,” the statement said.

WAEC acknowledged the importance of timely examinations and the inconvenience the delay caused candidates, schools, and parents. The council expressed sincere apologies for the disruption.

Despite the hurdles, WAEC confirmed that it successfully prevented any leakage of the examination paper, but this inadvertently affected the smooth and timely conduct of the exam. The council cited logistical challenges, security concerns, and socio-cultural factors as key issues that impacted their operations.

Reaffirming its dedication to academic excellence, WAEC pledged to continue upholding the highest standards in examination conduct.
