President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that the 2025 edition of the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) will be held in Abuja from June 20 to 21. The summit, themed “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Region,” is expected to gather regional leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, and key development partners.
Making the announcement via his official X account on Friday, President Tinubu described the summit as a strategic move to advance regional integration and economic growth in West Africa.
“Two years ago, I pledged to champion a foreign policy prioritising our people, our prosperity, and our place in the world,” Tinubu wrote. “This summit is not just an event. It is a bold step toward a prosperous, integrated West Africa powered by trade, innovation, and our most valuable asset: our people.”
Tinubu noted that WAES 2025 will feature a presidential roundtable, deal-making sessions, youth empowerment showcases, and regional project partnerships — all aimed at driving tangible outcomes for economic transformation.
The president called on the global community to join Nigeria in fostering a stronger, more unified, and globally competitive West Africa.
