Gbagyi Coalition Condemns El-Rufai’s Attacks on Tinubu

Date:

The Coalition of Gbagyi Nationality in Kaduna State has strongly condemned former Governor Nasir El-Rufai over what it called unwarranted and self-serving attacks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

At a press conference in Kaduna, the Coalition’s leader, Benjamin George, accused El-Rufai of working with opposition forces in a bid to regain political relevance ahead of the 2027 elections. He claimed El-Rufai’s criticisms stem from personal frustration after being denied a ministerial role in Tinubu’s government.

George recalled El-Rufai’s eight-year tenure as governor, highlighting policies that caused the demolition of Gbagyi homes, marginalization of the community, and failure to address insecurity. He also accused El-Rufai of autocratic governance and suppressing press freedom.

Regarding El-Rufai’s alleged efforts to form a political coalition against Tinubu, George called it a personal vendetta and said such a coalition would fail.

The Coalition reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu and Kaduna Governor Uba Sani, urging Nigerians to dismiss El-Rufai’s claims and expressing confidence in the current administration’s ability to deliver.

The group represents Gbagyi stakeholders mainly from Southern Kaduna, an area they say suffered neglect under El-Rufai’s administration.
