Ex-Local Government Chairmen in Abia Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Presidency

Date:

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former local government chairmen across party lines in Abia State have declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The endorsement came during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, held on Tuesday in Umuahia, the Abia State capital. The group, operating under the South East Forum of Former Local Government Chairmen, said they are ready to mobilize grassroots support for the President across the state.

Led by Dr. Frank Osita, a former chairman of Umunneochi Local Government, the group expressed commitment to aligning the South-East region with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through active engagement and partnership.

Osita highlighted the forum’s role as a strategic platform to unite former grassroots leaders and leverage their influence for regional development and political advocacy. He assured that the group would work tirelessly to promote Tinubu’s vision in their communities.

In his remarks, Deputy Speaker Kalu praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of grassroots leaders in driving inclusive development. He encouraged the chairmen to take their roles seriously, noting their wealth of experience and influence in their localities.

Kalu also reiterated the need for unity beyond party lines, calling for collective efforts to uplift Abia State and the South-East region. He invited former chairmen from different political backgrounds to join the Renewed Hope Partners (RHP), a platform aimed at supporting Tinubu’s administration.

In a separate meeting with former PDP local government chairmen, Kalu commended their willingness to transcend party divisions for the state’s progress. He expressed optimism about the collaborative efforts toward victory in the upcoming elections.

The former chairmen also lauded Kalu’s role in championing the South East Development Commission (SEDC) bill, recently assented to by President Tinubu, as a milestone for regional development.
