LAGOS — President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday received Pastor Tunde Bakare, founder of the Citadel Global Community Church, at his residence in Lagos.
The visit was disclosed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared a photo of the meeting on his official X account.
Bakare, a former presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), said his meeting with the President focused on his vision for a functional and prosperous Nigeria.
“My life and personal vision is to see a nation that works in my lifetime,” he told the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) after the meeting. “Those things I’ve discussed with Mr President… I’ve learned that when you discuss with the person in charge, you leave it with him to do whatsoever he wills with what you’ve suggested.”
He did not reveal details of their discussion but expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership: “God guiding him and giving him wisdom will help this nation not to slide or go down the drain, but to bounce back so that he can leave a mark that cannot be erased.”
Looking ahead, Bakare said he hopes the next two years will bring peace, unity, and concrete progress. “We’ve danced around some subjects for too long. It’s time to act so that the masses do not live in abject poverty.”
The visit follows recent comments by Bakare on April 20, when he urged Tinubu to accept advice and “stop playing God.”
