PDP and IPAC Urge Nigerians to Emulate Prophet Mohammed’s Virtues During Eid-el-Kabir
As Nigerians celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended heartfelt felicitations to citizens, urging them to use the occasion for deep reflection, spiritual renewal, and renewed faith amid worsening socio-economic challenges.
Similarly, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) called on Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) — especially compassion, humility, and commitment to peace and justice — during this festive period.
In a statement signed by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party praised Nigerians for their resilience but criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government for “rampant profligacy, exploitation, and deceit” that have undermined citizens’ hopes and dignity.
“The Eid-el-Kabir festival, symbolizing obedience, sacrifice, and compassion, comes at a time when Nigerians are enduring unbearable hardship, worsened by the APC’s mismanagement of national resources,” the PDP statement said.
The opposition party highlighted grave concerns about worsening insecurity, describing some areas as “killing fields,” and condemned the deteriorating economic situation that has made basic living standards unattainable for millions.
PDP accused the APC-led government of reckless borrowing with no tangible benefits to Nigerians and demanded immediate recovery of over N30 trillion allegedly lost to fraudulent oil deals and financial mismanagement.
“These looted funds must be redirected to revive infrastructure, boost productive sectors, and strengthen national security agencies urgently,” the party stressed.
The PDP further challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use his remaining two years in office to restore moral leadership by prioritizing compassion, prudence, and accountability.
“At a time when Nigerians reflect on sacrifice and obedience to God’s will, the APC must also align its governance with truth, justice, and the public good,” the statement emphasized.
The party called on citizens to remain patriotic, support vulnerable groups, and unite in collective prayers for national restoration.
IPAC’s National Chairman, Dr Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, also urged Nigerians to pray for peace, tolerance, unity, and collective patriotism to steer the country towards justice and prosperity.
“This is the only country we can call our own. We must build a united, progressive, and inclusive society where no one is left behind,” Dantalle said.
He reminded that democratic governance should prioritize security and welfare, referencing Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution.
IPAC expressed condolences over the recent floods in Mokwa, Niger State, which killed over 150 people, displaced thousands, and destroyed homes and farmlands.
“We pray for those affected and urge all levels of government to be proactive to prevent such disasters. We also call on citizens to support flood victims during this difficult time,” Dantalle added.
