Popular Nigerian actress Laide Bakare has denied accusations that she was shading fellow actress Biola Bayo following Biola’s announcement of her divorce.
Bakare had posted a video of herself dancing on Instagram with the caption, “All of us will eat breakfast. Asiko lo ma ya to. Good morning people.” This phrase is often used on Nigerian social media to allude to relationship troubles or heartbreak.
The timing of the post, shortly after Biola Bayo announced her separation from her husband Oluseyi, led many netizens to believe Bakare was making a pointed comment.
However, Bakare dismissed these claims in a new video shared on Friday, calling the accusations “bad commenters and trolls associations.”
She explained, “Please let us all be guided. It is still June 5th here in California to be precise. I can never shade my own sister Biola Bayo. My prayers are with you. I didn’t get any updates. I was busy with my daughter’s graduation. Trolls are evil.”
Bakare’s response highlights the misunderstanding, stressing that her post was coincidental and not meant to mock or shade Biola Bayo during a difficult time.
