Protect Government Facilities, Rivers Sole Administrator Urges Traditional Rulers

Date:

Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), has called on traditional rulers to take proactive steps in protecting government facilities located within their domains.

Ibas made the appeal on Friday during the combined 121st and 122nd quarterly meeting of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, held in Port Harcourt.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, Ibas noted that the meeting underscored the need for unity between the government and traditional institutions to effectively address challenges facing the state.

He emphasised the critical role traditional leaders play in peacebuilding and community stability, urging them to work closely with the government to prevent theft, vandalism, and other criminal activities targeting public assets.

The retired naval chief also cautioned against shielding any traditional ruler found to be complicit in acts of unrest or violence.

Ibas reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with traditional rulers to enhance the development, security, and prosperity of Rivers State.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Rivers Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Chike Worlu-Wodo, commended the sole administrator for his dedication to promoting peace and fostering growth across the state.
