Controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has taken a swipe at Nigerian music superstars Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid for flaunting luxury car purchases while many Nigerians face severe economic hardship.
His criticism followed reports that Burna Boy had acquired the new McLaren Sienna, reportedly worth N3.5 billion—making him the first African to own the car. Not long after, Davido reportedly bought a 2026 Mercedes Maybach SL 680 valued at N1.2 billion. A few months earlier, Wizkid was said to have acquired a car worth N1.7 billion.
In a viral Instagram video, VeryDarkMan accused the trio of ignoring the suffering of their fans and fellow Nigerians.
“Yesterday I saw the news that Burna Boy bought a N3.5 billion car. The same yesterday, Davido bought a car of over N1 billion. They’ve been doing this,” he said.
He questioned their sense of responsibility, saying: “Don’t you people read the room? You guys are not the government, but you’ve benefited from this country. What have you given back?”
Addressing Davido directly, he asked: “What can you beat your chest and say you have done for the people of Osun State? What have you built that has benefited the youths?”
VeryDarkMan, known to be an associate of Davido, said the last time the singer was visibly involved in Osun State affairs was during his uncle’s gubernatorial campaign.
The critic’s comments have stirred debate online, with some supporting his stance on social responsibility while others defended the artistes’ right to spend their wealth as they choose.
