Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Family Home Attacked Again in Kogi, Suspect Arrested

Date:

ABUJA — The family residence of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, came under attack for the second time on Tuesday, prompting renewed concerns over her safety.

The senator’s media office confirmed the incident in a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, revealing that armed men stormed the property and vandalised glass doors and windows before being repelled by security forces and local vigilantes.

A breakthrough came with the arrest of a suspect, identified as Suberu Josa—a known ritualist and native of the area—who reportedly confessed to being involved in the latest and two prior attacks on the property. Items recovered from him included a cutlass and charms. Other suspects involved in the incident are still at large.

According to The Guardian, the same residence was previously attacked on April 15, 2025, but no arrests were made at the time. Tuesday’s incident marks the first time a suspect has been apprehended in what appears to be a pattern of targeted violence.

Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the attack and arrest, stating that the suspect was cooperating with investigators. He assured that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other culprits still on the run.

The attack comes amid heightened political tensions surrounding Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. She is currently facing two separate criminal charges filed by the Federal Government, following her public allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and her subsequent six-month suspension from the Senate.

Calling for calm, her media office stated: “Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to truth and her tireless representation of her constituents should not be met with violence or intimidation.”

Security authorities have pledged to bring all those responsible to justice, even as fears grow over the safety of the embattled senator and her family.
