ABUJA — A fresh report has confirmed that the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), a budding political platform backed by top anti-Tinubu figures, has launched a nationwide mobilisation and sensitisation drive as part of its push to emerge as a formidable opposition force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party, under the auspices of the Nigeria National Coalition Group (NNCG), has intensified consultations across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones in an effort to attract notable political stakeholders and bolster its ranks.
The coalition behind ADA includes influential political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and Dr. Umar Ardo, among others. Sources indicate that these leaders initially explored aligning with existing parties like the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) before settling on sponsoring a new political entity.
In a formal move, the NNCG submitted a request to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) seeking registration of ADA as a political party. The application was signed by Chief Akin A. Rickets, the Protem National Chairman of the association.
“We respectfully write to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, requesting the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance, ADA, as a political party,” the letter reads.
The coalition disclosed that ADA’s slogan will be “Justice for All,” with its national secretariat already established. The application also included the party’s manifesto and constitution, outlining its ideology, governance structure, and operational framework in line with Sections 40 and 222 of the Constitution and Section 75 of the Electoral Act, 2022.
ADA’s emergence reflects growing discontent within Nigeria’s political elite and a broader push by opposition figures to present a unified front capable of challenging the dominance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election cycle.
