Tinubu Hails Sanwo-Olu at 60, Urges Focus on Key Lagos Projects

Date:

President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt birthday wishes to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who turned 60 on Wednesday.

In a congratulatory message released in Abuja by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Sanwo-Olu’s leadership and unwavering commitment to the development of Nigeria’s commercial capital.

Sanwo-Olu, who has been one of Tinubu’s long-time political protégés, is currently serving as the sixth democratically elected governor of Lagos State. His career in public service includes leading roles such as Managing Director of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation and commissioner in key ministries—economic planning and budget, commerce and industry, and establishments, training and pensions.

Tinubu lauded the governor’s efforts in implementing the Lagos master plan crafted during his own tenure as governor from 1999 to 2007.

“Your execution of this vision is demonstrated by key accomplishments such as the completion of the Blue and Red Rail lines and the active preparations for the Purple Line, which is set to serve the vital Lekki corridor,” the president stated.

He urged Sanwo-Olu to stay the course and prioritise projects that will make significant impacts on the lives of residents, citing the much-anticipated Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way–Victoria Garden City (VGC) Road as vital initiatives.

Wishing the governor continued success, Tinubu added, “I also wish you continued good health, longevity, and many more years of invaluable service to Lagos State and Nigeria.”
