Police Arrest Two Suspected Vandals, Recover Stolen Items in Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspected vandals and recovered a cache of stolen items in the Uyo metropolis.

The arrests followed a tip-off received on Sunday, June 29, 2025. According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, police operatives acted on credible information about an ongoing act of vandalism along Ndiya Street, off Aka Road in Uyo. Upon arriving at the scene, the suspects attempted to flee, but one was apprehended immediately. Further investigation led to the arrest of the second suspect later in the day at Ebiare Afiat Lane, also off Aka Road.

During interrogation, the suspects led the police to another individual believed to be a receiver of stolen items. The said individual is currently at large, and efforts are underway to secure their arrest.

A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of several stolen items. These include two large oxygen gas cylinders, a SUMEC Fireman 3000 generator, a Fireman 1800 generator, a 12.5 kg gas cylinder, a complete mechanic toolbox, two wheelbarrows, a 4 kg gas cylinder, an aluminium car wheel, a metal Coca-Cola stand, a tile cutter, a solar light panel, among others.

DSP John confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. She also urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to help combat criminal activity across the state.
