Davide Ancelotti, son of Brazil national team manager Carlo Ancelotti, has been appointed head coach of Botafogo, the Rio de Janeiro-based club announced on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old is stepping into his first managerial role, having previously served as assistant to his father at several elite clubs including Real Madrid, Everton, Napoli, and Bayern Munich.
Ancelotti replaces Renato Paiva, who was dismissed following Botafogo’s Club World Cup Round of 16 exit.
He has signed a deal running until the end of 2026.
Davide had initially relocated to Brazil to join his father’s backroom staff with the national team, but has now been released from that role to begin his solo coaching journey at Botafogo.
His father, Carlo Ancelotti, officially took charge of the Brazilian national team on May 12 after departing Real Madrid at the end of last season. He is notably the first foreign coach to lead Brazil since 1965.
