Nigerian singer Iyanya has revealed the emotional toll of losing three close family members in the space of just two years, describing it as the lowest period of his life.
In a recent interview with media personality Hero Daniels, the Kukere crooner recounted how his father died just days before he got signed to a record label. Not long after that, his brother also passed away. But the most painful moment, he said, was losing his mother.
Iyanya shared that he received the heartbreaking news of his mother’s death just minutes before he was scheduled to perform at a show.
“The lowest points of my life I would say losing three family members in about two years,” he said. “My dad passed away about seven or eight days to me being recruited. Immediately I came out, my brother followed. And then my mom.”
Speaking about the day his mother died, the singer said, “I had a show. I was at the backstage. I think four minutes to my performance, my mom’s junior brother was calling me back-to-back. So, I picked the call and he goes like, ‘your mom is dead.’ I still performed despite my devastation.”
Iyanya’s revelation has sparked an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities, many commending his strength and dedication in the face of personal tragedy.
