ABUJA – Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima on Wednesday led a high-powered delegation to Daura, Katsina State, to attend prayers at the residence of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The delegation, acting on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, included Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda, several ministers, and other mourners.
According to a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), the third-day prayer for the late President is scheduled to hold on Thursday, with the Vice President leading attendees.
It will be recalled that Senator Shettima was earlier dispatched to London by President Tinubu to accompany the remains of the late President Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13.
The Vice President departed London for Nigeria at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, alongside some of Buhari’s family members, to ensure the safe return of the former leader’s body for burial in his hometown, Daura, later that day.
