Ex-Loyalist Blasts Yakubu Dogara Over Political Appointment, Accuses Him of Betrayal

Date:

A former loyalist of ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has launched a scathing attack on the former lawmaker, accusing him of hypocrisy and betrayal following his acceptance of a government appointment from the same administration he publicly opposed during the 2023 elections.

Maigida Yakubu, in an 11-page open letter released on Friday, criticised Dogara for what he called a glaring display of double standards, especially after his public denunciation of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Muslim-Muslim ticket during the last election cycle.

In the strongly worded letter, Maigida described Dogara as “a master manipulator who has replaced honour with deceit, unity with chaos, trust with betrayal, and drives the community to the edge of fracture.”

He further berated Dogara for allegedly orchestrating division in Zaar land and for exploiting ethnic and religious sentiments for personal political gain. According to him, Dogara’s actions during and after the elections reflected a self-serving agenda rather than a principled stance.

“Your trademark, deceit, and legendary blunders finally got the spotlight they deserved,” Maigida said. “If there were awards for political self-sabotage, you’d have swept the night.”

He accused Dogara of feigning moral outrage over the APC’s presidential ticket while secretly lobbying for government positions. “You shamelessly grovelled at the feet of the same political group, begging for political appointments without a shred of dignity,” the letter read.

Maigida also alleged that Dogara staged public opposition by mobilising “a rented Christian crowd mostly from the Middle Belt” to dramatise his disapproval of the ruling party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.

He went on to mock the recent appointment given to Dogara by the Tinubu administration, claiming it was not a reward for loyalty but “a convenient muzzle.”

“You are not busy these days unless you’re haunting the offices and homes of power brokers like a political housefly,” Maigida added.

On a local level, Maigida accused Dogara of alienating his constituents and failing to empower the youth of Zaar land during his tenure as a lawmaker.

“Remind us again, just for laughs, is there one Basayi son or daughter who can say he or she was genuinely economically or politically empowered from your celebrated reign?” he asked.

The letter signals deepening discontent among former allies of Dogara, who has faced growing criticism since his fallout with the APC and his controversial stance during the 2023 general elections.
