The Lagos State High Court on Monday granted bail to media personality and influencer Scott Iguma, just three days after he was remanded in prison over allegations of defamation.
Iguma’s legal troubles began last week after he publicly accused popular real estate firm PWAN of defrauding customers. He submitted over 130 petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), claiming the company issued fake land receipts instead of actual property.
His arrest on Thursday followed a defamation complaint filed by PWAN founder, Augustine Onwumere, with the court ordering his remand the next day.
The case has since drawn widespread attention on social media, with celebrities like Tunde Ednut, VeryDarkMan, Stanley Ontop, and singer Kokopee voicing support for Iguma and criticising the police action.
In a video shared online, Kokopee confirmed that the court had granted Iguma bail, adding that his legal team was working to fulfil the bail conditions.
“One thing I must tell Nigerians is that we cannot be silent when oppression is around the corner. Injustice for one is injustice to all,” he said. He also called on PWAN to publicly present evidence if they maintain their innocence.
