OSUN — As political activities intensify ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has assured the electorate that they would not regret returning the party to power.
Speaking during a consultation visit by APC governorship aspirant Bola Oyebamiji to Obokun Local Government Area, Oyintiloye expressed confidence in the party’s capacity to meet the people’s expectations, citing previous developmental blueprints and community engagement efforts.
Oyintiloye, a former Special Adviser to ex-Governor Gboyega Oyetola and former representative of Obokun State Constituency in the House of Assembly, said the APC had documented a comprehensive needs assessment through the “Osun Civic Engagement” agency — a structure designed to bridge the gap between citizens and government policy.
He urged residents to back the party’s return, stating that their support would help continue the developmental strides initiated under the previous administration.
In response, Oyebamiji noted that the needs of communities across the state, earlier compiled for Oyetola’s second term, would be revisited and implemented if the APC returns to power.
Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke has said he draws strength from the unwavering support of Osun people. Speaking at Adeleke University, Ede, during the institution’s 11th undergraduate and seventh postgraduate convocation, where he was conferred with an honorary doctorate, the governor described the award as a recognition of his administration’s achievements.
He reaffirmed his commitment to service delivery and emphasised that political authority stems from the electorate’s votes. Adeleke added that the honour would motivate him to do more for the people as his administration enters a critical phase.
However, the university’s Pro-Chancellor, Dr Deji Adeleke, lamented the flaws in Nigeria’s political system, particularly the lack of transparency in electoral processes. He warned that such deficiencies discourage investment and deepen youth unemployment.
