Osogbo — Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the leadership caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027, despite his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The endorsement was made during a PDP leadership caucus meeting held on Monday at the Government House in Osogbo. A communiqué signed by Governor Adeleke and 27 other party leaders confirmed their collective decision to support Tinubu’s second-term bid.
Although there had been speculation about Adeleke’s possible defection to the APC, the communiqué revealed that the move was opposed by members of both the PDP and APC in the state. As a result, Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP.
The party leadership also threw its full weight behind Adeleke’s second-term bid, stating that he would seek re-election in the 2026 Osun governorship election on the platform of the PDP.
According to the communiqué, Tinubu’s endorsement is rooted in his ancestral ties to Osun State and his ongoing leadership at the national level. The PDP leadership said it was important to acknowledge the president’s impact and rally support for stability and progress.
The move has drawn attention across political circles, as it marks an unusual cross-party endorsement that could reshape political alliances in the region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
