FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has praised Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, for delivering the dividends of democracy just eight months into office, describing him as a focused leader committed to development.
Speaking in Benin at the commissioning of the New Edo Line Transport Service, Wike commended Okpebholo for his performance and loyalty to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“You have actually shown your support for our president in practical terms in performance,” Wike said. “Your performance will give you the confidence to always come home even after your tenure as governor.”
The minister thanked Edo people for electing Okpebholo, stating that the governor’s focus and speed in delivering projects echoed the decisive leadership style of President Tinubu.
Wike noted that the revival of Edo Line had addressed issues of insecurity and transportation in the state. He added that good leadership is not about excuses but about meeting the needs of the people with determination.
“I do not identify with failure. I identify with people who mean well for their people,” he said. “Leadership is not easy because people will throw all kinds of things at you.”
In his remarks, Governor Okpebholo expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his continuous support and thanked Edo people for trusting him with the mandate to govern.
He assured citizens of more transformative projects, saying his administration is committed to improving lives across the state.
