Wizkid Becomes First African Artist to Surpass 9 Billion Spotify Streams

Nigerian music sensation Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has achieved a major milestone by surpassing 9 billion streams across all credits on Spotify.

This feat makes him the first African artist to reach the landmark figure on the global streaming platform.

Wizkid’s most streamed song on Spotify is the global hit One Dance, a collaboration with Canadian superstar Drake and British singer Kyla, which has racked up 3.7 billion streams. The track ranks among Spotify’s top 10 most streamed songs of all time and holds the Guinness World Record as the first single to surpass 1 billion streams on the platform.

As a lead artist, Wizkid’s most streamed track is Essence featuring fellow Nigerian star Tems, which has garnered over 303 million streams.

Meanwhile, American pop icon Taylor Swift remains Spotify’s most streamed artist overall, with over 1.5 billion streams.
