Scott Iguma Accuses Nigeria Police of Undermining Justice After Bail

Date:

Social media activist Scott Iguma has accused the Nigeria Police Force of working against the country’s justice system, describing his recent ordeal as evidence of systemic corruption within the force.

Iguma made the allegations in a video shared on Thursday, three days after he was granted bail by a Lagos State High Court. He had been arrested and remanded over allegations made against real estate company PWAN, which he accused of defrauding customers.

Granted bail on Monday in the sum of ₦10 million, Iguma used the opportunity to thank the public for their support but condemned the role the police allegedly played in his detention.

“With my experience with the Nigeria Police, it’s quite so sad,” Iguma said in the video. “They are not loyal to Nigeria, they are not loyal to the law or justice. All they are loyal to is money.”

He further alleged that officers of the force are easily compromised. “The Nigerian police are so cheap that you can bribe them with a bottle of Coke, and they will help you convict an innocent man for murder,” he added.

Iguma claimed his arrest and treatment were politically motivated and orchestrated through police cooperation with private interests.

The video has since drawn mixed reactions online, with some calling for police reform while others questioned the veracity of his claims.
