APC Faces Deepening Crisis, ADC Poised to Capitalise — Solomon Dalung

Date:

Former Minister of Youth and Sports and ex-APC chieftain, Solomon Dalung, has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is grappling with more internal crises than any other political party in Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview in Ibadan, Oyo State, Dalung said while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) had resolved its issues of candidacy before consolidating, the APC is heading toward severe internal turmoil driven by leadership tussles and political realignments.

He cited the recent removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as APC National Chairman and ongoing talks to reintegrate former NNPP presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as signs of desperate attempts to preserve the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dalung also alleged that the party’s leadership is repositioning itself by appointing Nentawe Yilwatda as chairman, a move he believes is strategic to sustain the controversial religious configuration.

“There will be more crises in the APC than any political party,” Dalung said. “They have created a near one-party system by absorbing almost every politician, and those diverse ambitions will eventually tear the party apart.”

He pointed out that several governors who defected to the APC left their grassroots supporters behind in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), causing fragmentation and disconnection at the local level.

According to Dalung, the ADC is waiting in the wings to benefit from the eventual collapse of the APC. “When there is an implosion in the APC, the ADC will harvest, organise and take over government to reposition Nigeria,” he stated.

He added that ADC’s internal structure and commitment to addressing national issues—not individual interests—give it a stronger footing compared to other parties.
