Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, defeated Mozambique 60-55 on Monday to top Group D and book a direct spot in the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Abidjan.
Playing at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, the reigning champions overcame a tough first half to secure their second win of the group stage.
Star guard Ezinne Kalu, the 2019 MVP, led the charge with 16 points and five steals, helping Nigeria avoid a late scare from the Mozambicans.
With this result, D’Tigress remain unbeaten in the tournament and stay on course for a fourth straight AfroBasket title. They had earlier defeated Rwanda in their opening match.
