President Bola Tinubu and Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, have received fresh endorsements for a second term from key political figures, including Ondo State Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa, Senate Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, and former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose.
At a rally held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, Ayedatiwa declared that all 23 All Progressives Congress (APC) governors are backing Oyebanji for another term, praising his administration’s impact across various sectors in Ekiti State.
“I am here in solidarity with my brother, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and to declare total support for his second term because he has touched lives in every sector,” Ayedatiwa said.
Senate Leader Bamidele also threw his weight behind the re-election bids of both Tinubu and Oyebanji, warning the public not to be swayed by opposition tactics, especially from the emerging African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
Oyebanji, who has now accepted to run again, was applauded by party stakeholders for his performance over the past three years.
Surprisingly, Fayose — a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) — also endorsed Tinubu and Oyebanji, stating: “I want to publicly and without reservation endorse President Tinubu, Governor Oyebanji, and his deputy for a second term.”
Fayose, however, clarified that his endorsement was not a defection to the APC, recalling his 2014 landslide victory in Ekiti as proof of his political relevance.
The event was attended by former Ekiti governors, state leaders, and National Assembly members, marking a rare bipartisan show of support ahead of the 2027 elections.
