Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Colombian winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool for a fee reportedly rising to €75 million ($86.5 million).
Diaz, 28, joins the Bundesliga champions on a contract until 2029, ending his successful stint at Anfield where he won the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup.
“In Luis Diaz, we have succeeded in bringing in one of the best left wingers in the Premier League,” said Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. “He brings real player character from Liverpool to FC Bayern — he’s won silverware with every one of his clubs to date.”
Reacting to the move, Diaz said: “It means a lot to me to be part of FC Bayern. They’re one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help my new team with my way of playing football and my character. My goal is to win every possible title, and that’s what we’ll work for every day as a team.”
Diaz made 50 appearances and scored 17 goals across all competitions last season, playing a key role as Liverpool secured their 20th English league title.
His transfer comes as Bayern look to reinforce their attack following the long-term injury to German international Jamal Musiala, who sustained a broken leg and dislocated ankle at the Club World Cup.
