Galatasaray Sign Osimhen for Record €75m

Date:

Turkish champions Galatasaray have completed the permanent signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli for €75 million — the highest transfer fee in Turkish football history.

Osimhen, 26, was instrumental during his loan spell at the Istanbul club last season, scoring 26 goals in 30 league games to lead Galatasaray to their 25th Super Lig title.

The striker had missed Napoli’s pre-season training, fuelling speculation of an imminent exit. Though he returned to Italy briefly, he was not included in new manager Antonio Conte’s plans for the upcoming season.

Lengthy negotiations between both clubs were resolved on Thursday, after weeks of back-and-forth over payment terms. The agreement now marks Galatasaray’s most expensive signing ever.

Napoli have moved swiftly to replace Osimhen, signing Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City.
