Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has assigned portfolios to the newly appointed commissioners in the state.
The development comes weeks after the governor dissolved his cabinet at the end of the 12th State Executive Council meeting in July, directing the commissioners to hand over to the permanent secretaries of their ministries.
In the latest announcement, Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche was named Commissioner for Health and Human Services, while Dr. Ortese Yanmar will oversee the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development. Dr. Fredrick Ikyaan takes charge of Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, and Hon. Michael Oglegba is now Commissioner for Finance.
Hon. Tiza Isaac Imojime was appointed Commissioner for Youth, Creativity and Innovation, just as Hon. Alumo Orpin will head Industry, Trade and Investment. The Ministry of Water Resources and Environment goes to Hon. Ugwu Odoh, while Hon. Kunde Aondowase will handle Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
Hon. Kwaghgba Amande was assigned to ICT and Digital Economy, with Hon. Joseph Ter Jir taking charge of Transport and Power/Energy. Hon. James Dwem will oversee Science and Technology, while Prof. Ornguga Yangien becomes Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
The list also includes Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Benjamin Ashaver for Agriculture and Food Security, and Dr. Margaret Adamu Ijaguwa for Education and Knowledge Management. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo was named Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, while Hon. Dennis Iyaighgba will head the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
